EV charging during rental period

Who is responsible for the charging costs during the rental period?

If not agreed otherwise between the renter and owner, the renter is responsible for returning the car to the owner with the same level of charge that the car had at the start of the rental. Therefore, the renter is primarily responsible for the charging costs during the rental period.

However, electric car owners can choose to include the final charge in the daily rental rate, so that the car can be returned with a lower charge level than at the start of the rental. This should be documented in the car's information (car description & return information).

Owners can also choose to charge the cost of the final charge to the renter at an agreed rate (e.g. marked in the car description & return information). In this case as well, the car can be returned with a lower charge level than at the start of the rental. For example:

  • 1% = 0.50€
  • 10% = 5€

How is the charge level registered?

When the renter picks up the car, the owner must record the current charge level in the rental agreement. The same applies to the moment when the car is returned and the rental is ended.

What happens if the renter returns the car with a lower or higher charge level than when picked up?

If the car is returned with a lower charge level than when picked up, this should be documented in the rental agreement found in the app. If not agreed otherwise between the renter and owner, the renter is obliged to pay the owner for the charges incurred.

If the owner has included the final charge in the rental rate, the car can be returned with a lower charge level than when picked up.

If the owner has indicated the rate for the missing charge level in advance, the renter is obliged to pay the charging costs according to this rate.

The cost of the missing charge can be added to the additional costs field in the rental agreement when the car is returned. When the sum is reported in the additional costs field through the app, the charging fee is automatically deducted from the payment card that the renter registered when renting the car. The renter will receive a text message and an email from GoMore indicating the amount charged and from the card, which will show the charged amount. GoMore will then charge the renter's payment card with the agreed amount 24 hours after the end of the rental period.

If the renter returns the car with a higher charging level than what it had at the start of the rental, the car owner is not obligated to compensate the difference to the renter.
