Why is the rental contract important in non-Keyless rentals?

This article discusses non-keyless car rental contracts.

Why is the rental contract important?

Thoroughly completing the rental contract is crucial because a well-documented contract ensures the rights of both the car owner and the renter in case of any damages and reduces potential misunderstandings.

Every GoMore rental begins and ends with the completion of the rental contract in the application between the renter and the car owner. This way, the car's condition, mileage, and fuel level are carefully documented at the start of the rental and when returning the car.

If any damage occurs during the rental period, such as a new scratch on the car, it should be documented in the rental contract together with the renter during the car return. It is the car owner's responsibility to inspect the car's interior and exterior for any damages upon return before signing the rental contract. All existing defects and damages, both inside and outside the car, should always be noted in the rental contract for accurate documentation.

Renters are responsible for any damages that occur to the car during the rental, which is why it is important to record all existing damages in the rental contract at the beginning of the rental period. In unclear situations regarding the timing of the damage (before or after the rental start), a note should be made in the rental contract. This way, as a renter, you can protect your rights, and we have as much information as possible about the situation.

In unclear cases of damage, GoMore acts as an external observer and makes objective decisions based on our rental terms and the rental contract. We first examine the initially signed rental agreement and our rental terms. We also try to review the pictures in the rental contract in unclear situations, but we heavily rely on our rental terms, which ensure that we can make an objective decision that is fair to all our members. This is why it is important to report both existing damages and possible new damages in the rental agreement.

How to fill out the rental contract

When handing over the keys and the car, the car owner must always make a rental contract with the renter. Besides the car owner, only the car renter can sign the rental contract, so an extra driver cannot pick up or return the car. The rental contract is available in the GoMore - application under the car owner's profile.

The rental contract must clearly state the current condition of the car, such as existing damages inside and outside the car, mileage, and fuel level. Upon handing over the car, both the car owner and the renter must sign the contract on the owner's mobile device.

When returning the car, the rental contract must be finalized, and both parties must sign the return section of the rental contract. If any unexpected incidents have occurred during the rental period that were not recorded in the contract at the start of the rental (such as new damage to the car, insufficient fuel, or excess mileage), these should be documented in the return contract before signing.

Where can I find the rental contract?

In the car owner's profile, the rental contract is available as soon as the rental booking is confirmed. The rental contract is always found under the specific rental booking. The contract is only accessible in the car owner's application, so the renter cannot see it in their own application. Therefore, both parties must complete and sign the rental contract on the car owner's phone during the car handover and return. After the rental period ends, the renter receives a copy of the rental contract as a receipt in their GoMore profile and email.
